Garden birdwatch 2015

It’s time for the RSPB’s annual Big Garden Birdwatch. This year the feeders were dominated by an aggressive group of starlings,

Starling (Sturnus vulgaris)

but the count is much the same as last year except for a fall in house sparrow numbers. It’s impossible to tell whether this is really significant – they are probably out foraging somewhere else – but I’ll be keeping watch and hoping to see the usual 20+ in the summer.

  1. If you are a regular garden birdwatcher don’t forget the BTO schemes you can also add you sightings too. One is of the same name “Garden Birdwatch” and then there is the BirdTrack project where you can add sightings from all over the world. Either way, looks like you enjoyed yourself and well done for adding to the knowledge gathered.
