Birds, bees and beetles

Closely following the chiffchaffs, there are whitethroats,

Whitethroat (Sylvia communis)
willow warblers,

Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus)

and for the first time in several years, skylarks

Skylark (Alauda arvensis) in flight
and the bug season is under way – here’s a (cute but destructive) figwort weevil on the buddleia,

Figwort weevil (Cionus scrophulariae)
a 2-spot ladybird (I hadn’t seen this variant before)

2-spot ladybird (Adalia 2-punctata)

and the inevitable Harlequin

Harlequin ladybird (Harmonia axyridis)

Meanwhile solitary bees are getting on with life…
