There are flocks of redwings in the hedgerows, feeding on hawthorn and other berries. These winter migrants arrive from northern and eastern Europe to enjoy the warm (!) British winter where food is more abundant. I’m hoping to see fieldfares soon, and perhaps waxwings

Starling numbers have fallen in recent years, but I’m lucky that these entertaining birds will readily come to my garden feeders – I could watch them for hours.
I put up one of Vine House’s fat ball rings, and waited for the inevitable mayhem. I wasn’t disappointed.
