Another newcomer

Corizus hyoscyami

In recent years, probably as a result of climate change, a number of species have expanded their range in the UK: Roesel’s Bush Cricket, for example, used to be be restricted to estuaries and coastal marshes; now it’s just about everywhere.

Here’s another: Corizus hyoscyami, a plant bug that only ten years ago was confined to southern and western coastal regions, is expanding inland – this is the first time I’ve seen it here. This publication on the BRC website includes distribution maps showing the recent spread of Corizus hyoscyami.
